On Tuesday 12th June, the Preps ventured out to Healesville Sanctuary to visit the native animals of Australia. With our raincoats packed just in case, we braved the cold winds and darken skies to see the cuddly koalas, spikey echidnas, cheeky Tasmanian devils and jumping kangaroos. The Preps learned about ‘Wiping for Wildlife’ where they trade in ordinary toilet paper for a recycled option. In addition, we heard about the effects of human impact on wildlife and their habitat, such as the platypus and balloons. You would be so proud of the Preps for navigating their way around the Sanctuary as they identified the location of multiple animals on the maps, and of course where the toilets were… very important. Thank you to our fantastic Parent Volunteers who kept a watchful eye on the Preps at all times. We the teachers appreciate your time and good sense of humour.
