Physical Education at Narre Warren North Primary School is linked to the Victorian Curriculum and aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable them to improve and maintain their physical health and wellbeing. Students focus on the acquisition of movement skills, concepts and strategies to enable confident, competent and creative participation in a range of physical activities.

All Prep to Year 6 students participate in Huff’n’Puff activities during Term 1, where students engage in a variety of warm-up and partner challenges, vigorous games, relays and group fitness activities that promote health related fitness. Students develop their understanding about movement as they learn to monitor how their body responds to different types of physical activity.

Years 3 to 6 curriculum will focus on goals setting, developing complex movement patterns and refining techniques in Athletics and Striking sports during Term 1. Students will participate in an intensive of athletics skills’ sessions presented by Athletics Australia. Students will also get the opportunity to engage in the Hockey Roadshow as part of their striking skills development.

Students in Prep to Year 2 will participate in a Fundamental Motor Skills program and will be introduced to the procedures and routines in Physical Education. Students will participate in fun games to develop the ‘building blocks’ required for more specialised skills that they will need throughout their lives to competently participate in different games, sports and recreational activities.
