Physical Education at Narre Warren North Primary School is linked to the Victorian Curriculum and aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable them to improve and maintain their physical health and wellbeing. Students focus on the acquisition of movement skills, concepts and strategies to enable confident, competent and creative participation in a range of physical activities. All Prep to Year 6 students continually develop their health related fitness during Term 2, where students engage in a variety of activities that promote fitness. All Prep to Year 6 students will be building fitness in preparation for our House Cross Country Carnival, which is in Week 3. The Years 3 to 6 curriculum will focus on goals setting, developing complex movement patterns and refining techniques in Invasion (court and field) and Striking sports during Term 2. Students will participate in both Gamesense and intensive skill development sessions. Students in Years 5 and 6 will also get the opportunity to engage in the St Margaret’s Cup and Interschool Sport competitions. Prep to Year 2 will participate in a Fundamental Motor Skills program and will continue to be introduced to a variety of movement skills. Students will participate in activities to develop the “building blocks” required for more specialised skills that they will need throughout their lives to competently participate in different games and sports. Before school on Wednesday mornings, students from Prep to Year 6 can participate in our school Run Club which aims encourage, equip and motivate our students to improve their fitness in team based sessions. Students can also make the most of our lunchtime sports opportunities on offer each week.
