What an exciting term we are going to have here at Narre Warren Nth PS. We are starting with a 3 day Camp at Nillahcootie including a visit to the snow then finishing with our Whole School concert.

Our reading sessions will have a whole class focus on finding the main idea, looking at word meaning and emphases and paying attention to punctuation for fluency. Independently students will continue to focus on good reading habits and strategies to support comprehension, accuracy, fluency and extended vocabulary and practice their personalised reading goals.

When writing students will continue to work on our SCRIPTS writing program using Narratives and Information Reports to expand their knowledge on developing plots and twists, sequencing events, using appropriate headings and subheadings. During grammar sessions, students will learn about nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives, sentence structure, punctuation and paragraphing.

In Number and Algebra students will extend their knowledge on number and place value, fraction and decimals and money and financial mathematics. The introduction of the classroom economy where students have the opportunity to earn and lose money has already been well received in all classes.

In Measurement and Geometry, students will learn about units of measurement, location and statistics and probability by representing and interpreting data.

In our inquiry sessions we will focus on ‘Social Justice’. Students will investigate the biggest problems facing children around the world gaining a perspective and motivation to make a difference.

If you have any question about our weekly program please contact your child’s teacher.
