Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is the language of the Deaf community in Australia. It is signed using hand and body movements, as well as facial expressions.

In Term 1 students will all learn ‘What is Auslan?’ and ‘Why is it an important language to learn?’ Throughout the term students will be learning signs for feelings and emotions, greetings such as ‘Good Morning’, ‘Hello how are you?’ and ‘My name is…” Signs for colours will be introduced for Prep, whereas Grades 1 to 4 will revise and intr0duce some more unique colour signs.

Students will also learn some celebration signs for Easter and birthday celebrations too.
