News from the Art Room

Earlier this semester Grade 3 and 4 studied the Artist Vincent Van Gogh. Here are some of their reproductions of the Sunflowers using oil pastels. The Grade 5 and 6 students main focus was Textiles. They produced some Australian landscapes using three sewing stitches: running, back and blanket stitch.

This term every grade in the school has researched an Asian country of their choice and is creating some traditional art both in the art room and in their classroom.  All of the artwork will be show cased at the Asian Art Exhibit on Show Day. Entry is open to all parents and community members for a gold coin donation.

Music Enrichment

IMGP5381 (Custom)

During Term 3, a group of Grade 4, 5 and 6 children participated in a Music Enrichment Class that took place every Friday for 5 weeks with Mrs Boer. The students learnt songs arranged by Jon Madin who is an expert in Marimba Music and community performances based on Orff Schulwerk music. Tess Porz is a talented singer who assisted the group throughout the program. The music performed, combined the sounds of marimbas, xylophones, glockenspiels, recorders and some very beautiful singing voices. On Thursday the 18th September the students celebrated their achievements by performing to  parents, staff and  the students of N.W.N.P.S. Congratulations to all participants on a most successful concert!
